Carrie is a senior studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing and Publishing, but mainly focuses on poetry. They’re interested in many things, from houseplants to Pokémon, but their favorite pastime is sleeping.

Graphic Designer:
Keiko Neary
Keiko is a third-year graphic designer. She loves music more than almost anything, and she hopes to work in the industry after graduation.

Julia Beers
Julia is a senior in the Graphic Design program at the University of Tennessee. She is one of the two incredible graphic designers here at the Phoenix.

Art Editor:
Emery Ball
Emery is a Senior BFA student at the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Two-Dimensional Art. She is passionate about educating youth and the community about art and self-expression. Her interests include film photography and zine-making, as well as writing music and snowboarding. Emery is excited to bring her perspective and experience to the magazine team this year as Art Editor of The Phoenix.

Max Edmonds
Max is a senior working towards a 2D Art BFA. He is also a baker and America’s sweetheart.

Poetry Editor:
Amira Fernandez Mahdi
Amira is a senior double majoring in French and Japanese, and is conversational in four languages. “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot is her favorite poem at the moment, and she likes to go rock climbing when her ACL isn’t torn (like now).

Jacqueline feels grateful to have had her poetry and prose published twice by the Phoenix before she ends her education at the University of Tennessee.

Lauren is a junior studying English with a concentration in Technical Communication. She loves reading, writing, and all things horror related!

Prose Editor:
Brianna Eaton
Brianna is a sophomore studying English with a concentration in publishing. She is passionate about Virginia Woolf, a native of Twin Peaks, WA, and is always rewatching Once Upon a Time.

Assistant Prose Editor:
Margaret White
Margaret is a freshman studying English and Journalism, and she is passionate about education, community service, and the arts, as well as the 1930s Dust Bowl, the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Major League Baseball. If she were an instrument, she would be a soprano saxophone, and if she could have anyone’s job, it would be Clark Kent’s role at the Daily Planet.

Nonfiction Editor/Copy Writer:
Grace Rook
Grace Rook is a sophomore studying English with concentrations in Literature and Publishing. She loves walks in the woods, and requires bread and soup to live.

Social Media Manager:
Kirra Correll
Kirra is the Social Media Manager for the Phoenix and a junior English student with a concentration in Publishing. She loves to read and make designs for social media!

Public Outreach Coordinator:
Memphis Powers
Memphis is a senior majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and minoring in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. She is the coolest person in the world.

Community Engagement Coordinator:
Emma Brunson
Emma is currently a senior majoring in English with a concentration in Publishing and minoring in Film Studies. She hopes to one day work in children’s publishing, and loves to watch movies and read books in her free time!

Support Staff:
Savannah Sasinouski
Savannah is an English major from Knoxville, Tennessee. She looks lovely in blue and can pull off a bob, which makes the rest of us feel jealous, to be perfectly frank.
